First day – Five for $100,000+

Monday, Dec. 9 was a banner day for cutting, as Western Bloodstock launched the first day of its 2019 NCHA Futurity Sales. Session I of the NCHA Futurity 2-Year-Old Sale saw five horses bring $100,000 or more, including high-seller Cat Calling at $265,000.

Cat Calling, a red roan colt sired by High Brow Cat, and in training with Turner West, was consigned by Barney Mac Smith and purchased by Alexa Stent, Aledo, Tex. Out of Peptos Fancy Jewel LTE $30,076, by Peptoboonsmal, Cat Calling is a full brother  to Cromed Out Cat LTE $242,020.

She Be Metallic, a sorrel Metallic Cat filly consigned by Todd Nelson, brought $155,000 from Jim Karhan, Blanco, Tex. In training with Jim Jordan, She Be Metallic is a three-quarter sister to Bet Hesa Cats Choice LTE $68,306 and Ichis Choice LTE $51,778.

My Pappi Sells Metal, a red roan Metallic Cat filly, sold for $110,000 to Ike Rainey, Ocala, Fla. Consigned by Jerry and Patti Gann, and in training with Turner West, My Pappi Sells Metal is the first foal out of the Smart Little Lena daughter Smart Paprika LTE $107,963, who is a half-sister to Peppys Stylish Lena LTE $183,779

Cinca Cat, a sorrel  High Brow Cat filly and the first foal out of Cinca Im Hot LTE $258,251, was consigned by Rocking P Ranch and sold for $100,000 to Todd Quirk, Denham Springs, La. Cinca Im Hot’s dam, Cinca De Maya LTE $107,750, by Dual Rey, is out of 2005 NCHA Futurity champion Highbrow Supercat, a leading dam of earners of over $1.4 million.

Stonecold Bessie, a black filly sired by Once In A Blu Boon, also sold for $100,000. Consigned by and in training with Mark Kennedy, she was purchased by Bar RR Ranches, Bartonville, Tex. Stonecold Bessie is one of two foals out of an unshown Boon A Little daughter.

Session II of the NCHA Futurity 2-Year-Old Sale begins at 9:00 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10 in Watt Arena, and is followed by a Hard 8 BBQ Dinner at 4:00 p.m. in John Justin Arena, and The Evening Session at 5:00 p.m. in John Justin Arena.
