2018 NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity Sales off to a good start

The two-day NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity Sales got underway on a high note on Friday, October 19 with the sale of Shadow Oak Ranch’s 3-year-old palomino stallion One Shiney Metallic, by NCHA Horse of the Year and NCHA Open Futurity champion, Metallic Cat, for $64,000. The NRCHA Sales, held during the NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity at Will Rogers Equestrian Center, Fort Worth, Tex., continue through Saturday, October 20.

One Shiney Metallic, who qualified for the NRCHA Futurity Open Finals under trainer Corey Cushing, sold to Don & Teresa Martin, Vernon, Tex. His dam, One Shiney Rey, by Dual Rey, is half-sister to Shiney Shorty, by Shorty Lena, producer of NCHA earners of $228,434.

Here Comes The Boon, consigned by and in training with Myles Brown, was the high-selling 2-year-old at $50,000, purchased by Rocking BS Ranch, Brent & Suzie Steward, Las Vegas, Nev. Sired by Once In A Blu Boon, the bay roan colt is out of the Shorty Lena daughter Stay Outta My Shorts, an NCHA and NRCHA money earning producer.

Cantankerous One, by One Time Pepto, was the high-selling 2-year-old filly at $38,000. Consigned by Lone Oak Performance Horses, LLC and trained by Phillip Ralls, the red roan filly is out of the High Brow Cat daughter Cancan Kitty, and a half-sister to NCHA money earners Cancan Reyvolution LTE $177,029 and Kitty Can Dual LTE $124,535. She was purchased by Holy Cow Performance Horses Texas LLP, Weatherford, Tex.

The NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity Sale Yearling and Broodmare Sale Session I, to be continued on Saturday, October 20, reflected an especially strong market with 87 percent completed sales. Call Her Hilda 17, a Metallic Cat-sired yearling filly and a full sister to Call Me Mitch LTE $173,172, commanded the top price of $30,000. Consigned by James Eakin and purchased by Ty Marshall, Rosston, Tex., Call Her Hilda 17 is out of Miss Hickory Hill, by Doc’s Hickory, the producer of earners of $546,546.

Play Gunz And Roses, consigned by Fazenda Barrinha Corporation, brought $25,000, Session I’s second-highest price, from Geoffrey Porges, New York, NY. The 2-year-old gray Playgun filly is out of Arosesuchaclatter LTE $323,079 and is a half-sister to Arosefirst LTE $57,689 and Peptoboonshakalaca LTE $50,684.
